Legal notes
What Symptra is allowed to say.
Symptra prepares a visit note you can read and hand to a clinician. It is not software as a medical device.
Symptra gives an AI assessment: a ranked differential and an urgency, not a diagnosis from a licensed clinician and not a medical device. It can be wrong. If this could be an emergency — chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a severe allergic reaction, or heavy bleeding — call 911 or your local emergency number. In a crisis, call or text 988. Do not wait for the app. Share the visit note with your own clinician before you treat it as a plan.
Symptra is not HIPAA certified and not FDA-cleared. Those phrases are not used because they would be false.
No clearance is claimed
The product ranks possibilities and an urgency so a person can prepare for a conversation with their own clinician. Calling that “clinical decision support” would be a regulatory claim this release does not make. It does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace an exam. A swab, a culture, imaging, and a licensed judgment still decide what is actually wrong.
Emergencies
Chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, a severe allergic reaction, heavy bleeding, meningitis signs, and suicidal crisis stop the visit. The screen gives emergency steps, including 911 and 988 where those apply. Do not wait for an assessment.
Health information
Sensitive chart fields are encrypted with AES-256-GCM before they are stored. Health pages are not built to load advertising or marketing trackers. Settings can download a JSON copy. Account deletion is not available yet; it is planned for production and does not remove database rows or uploaded files.
“HIPAA certified” is not a status this product claims. A future hosted service would need a real privacy program, agreements, and a covered-entity or business-associate relationship where the law requires one. Symptra encrypts health fields before they are stored. That is not a certification, and the session activity log is not a HIPAA access report.
